I find it amusing that Teacher Appreciation Week lands in the month of May.
Many people assume that May is a wonderful time for teachers. Summer break is on the horizon, outside recess is plentiful, the year is winding down, end-of-year field trips are planned, etc.
However, May is terrible for teachers! Everything comes to a head during this beautiful month of May. Grades are due, students are crazy because summer is on the horizon, more high-powered lessons plans need to be prepped to keep the students’ attention when outside recess is calling their name, end-of-year field trips need to be planned, etc.
It is nice to have an end in sight, though, and an appreciation for all our teachers do during the month of May, and every other month of the year!
