There are really no sufficient words to express the sorrow after the tragedy at Sandy Hook School.
As teachers we work hard to make our classrooms safe havens from the violence, crime, drugs, and abuse our students see in their homes and on the streets. To have someone defile this safe haven is an atrocity.
We’ve all practiced those lockdown drills, praying and hoping that it won’t ever happen to us.
This tragedy has happened to all of us. It has shook us to our core and rattled our hearts.
My heart is grieving for the victims and the families.
I struggle to find the words to answer my students’ questions and fears that I know will come tomorrow morning.
