Stan the Drum Man
We have a lovely grant from the Utah Arts Council so we are bringing in Stan the Drum Man, an amazing teacher who helps people build drums.
But these aren’t just little-kid drums. These are big beautiful lifetime drums. Because of the economy, we couldn’t get funding for every student to have a drum at our little junior high, but about half are, and many of the adults are building a djembe as well.
A couple of us have some drum circle facilitation skills under our belts, so after the drums are hand-designed (woodworking. . .paint. . . .carving. . . many choices and then a poly finish), we will all get together and learn some basic drumming and have a drum circle!
What a transformational opportunity is coming our way. I’ll post ya a video clip when we play.
